Fearless Summer: Ron Dorff Reimagines the Mythical Ibiza of the 90s with Brian Atwood

WORDS: Olive Walton

The Evolution of the Luxury Essential

Menswear brand Ron Dorff has made its mark as a reliable and exciting producer of elevated essentials that will “never go out of fashion,” promises Ron Dorff founder and artistic director Claus Lindorff. The French-Swedish label takes wardrobe staples and refines them into premium pieces rooted in an uncompromising commitment to quality, with clothing designed to move effortlessly from the gym to work and home. Since its creation over 15 years ago, the brand has focused on reinventing menswear icons from the 60s, 70s and early 80s. Through its latest collaboration with award-winning American designer Brian Atwood, Ron Dorff takes a leap into the 90s, revisiting the spirit of a unique Ibiza era that shaped both Atwood and Lindorff. Speaking with both creatives, it becomes clear that Fearless Summer is as much about freedom and sensuality as it is timeless menswear.

The collaboration came together quickly following a conversation between the two creatives, and that sense of spontaneity and energy appears to run throughout the collection itself. Atwood brings a new dimension to the brand while still honouring its roots in discipline and precision when it comes to the construction and quality of each piece. Lindorff describes the partnership as adding a spirit of hedonism to the collection, creating “an original mix which we wouldn’t have ventured into without Brian’s vision,” while injecting a distinctly Mediterranean energy through the choice of colours, design details and even the name of the collection itself.

For Atwood, the inspiration behind the collection came from his memories of Ibiza in the 90s, marked by sensuality, escapism and what he describes as “sun, salt air, endless nights and people living completely unapologetically.” He continues, “I wanted to capture that raw glamour in a modern, effortless way.” Leaning into the lounge culture of Café del Mar, Atwood imagined a mood that felt “relaxed, sensual and easy,” which translated into “soft textures, washed colours and silhouettes that move naturally from beach to evening.” Warm tones evoke the suspended moment when the sun dips into the Mediterranean, while crochet, lightweight knits and relaxed athletic shapes create what Atwood calls “effortless sensuality.”

“The textures and silhouettes were about effortless sensuality. Crochet, lightweight knits and relaxed athletic shapes that feel easy on the body while still polished and confident,” says Atwood. For Lindorff, this seamless transition between moments reflects the way modern men dress today. “A sport-chic approach works throughout the day and the evening, whether on the beach, in town or out in the country,” he explains.

At the centre of the collection is the idea of fearlessness, not as extravagance, but as authenticity. “To me, ‘fearless’ means being completely comfortable in who you are and living authentically without overthinking it. There’s confidence in simplicity and honesty,” says Atwood. That idea extends to the person he imagines wearing the collection: “someone confident, relaxed and instinctive in their style, moving effortlessly from the beach to dinner to late nights by the sea.”

While Fearless Summer introduces a more sensual and liberated energy into the world of Ron Dorff, Lindorff sees the collaboration as part of a natural progression rather than a dramatic shift. “I believe in evolution, not revolution, and that goes very much for my approach to menswear as well,” he says. It is this balance between timeless essentials and a freer, more hedonistic spirit that makes the collection feel both nostalgic and distinctly contemporary.
