P. Johnson introduced a new menswear collection designed to look sexy and mysterious, even in winter.

Make your man wear some suede

I am unfortunately the type of person who pushes the summer as much as possible, wearing as many mini skirts as the weather lets me. But I love seeing my boyfriend in colder-weather clothes: shirts, polos, suits. Yes, please! Come to my door looking like Agent Cooper from Twin Peaks. If any other girlfriends out there feel me with the Lynchian reference, P. Johnson just released a new Autumn/Winter ready-to-wear menswear collection under the creative director Patrick Johnson who fuelled the fantasy.

The collection is, as he says, “An affectionate and nostalgic story about the perfect urban (and urbane) wardrobe,” creating a cut that is mature, elegant, masculine and ephemeral. The collection is prominently in earthy tones, covering knits, polos, two new shirt models, quarter-zips, denim bottoms, coats and suits, all of the above made from extremely carefully curated materials like cashmere, merino wool and Egyptian-sourced and spun long-staple cotton. Both shirt models feature generous chest pockets and are refined with exquisitely hand-worked details. As for the leather and suede, the pieces are high impact, having a large variety of options from lightweight suede to campagna.

For gloomier days, the unstructured Slade double-breasted overcoat would be perfect. It is described as “Something much softer and more sensual in profile compared to a typical power-shouldered polo coat,” and it comes in baby Bactrian camel and a classic navy in pure cashmere. As for denim, two new silhouettes tone down the collection to make it more accessible for everyday wear. Made in Italy from organic cotton yarn, the Bruce jean has a more relaxed, lounger cut, while the Sonny is more form-fitting with just a hint of a bootcut flare.

The whole collection feels like a remarkable reverberation of what “a damn good cup of coffee” and a slice of cherry pie would feel like under the falling leaves of mid-October. I would pair these pieces with a musky, tobacco perfume and a book (in a very non-performative way).

All the products are available globally at pjt.com, and in P. Johnson London and New York showrooms.
