Global Innovation and Creativity Define Istituto Marangoni’s MAGMA Runway

Emerging designers from around the world were at the epicenter of creativity and innovation at Istituto Marangoni’s MAGMA showcase on July 9. The event featured 10 graduate collections that transform fashion into a unique artform on the runway.

Inspired by the powerful force beneath the earth’s surface, MAGMA explores the revolutionary idea of hidden energy under pressure. As the force emerges, it blossoms into a bold transformative impact. The collections explored identity, nature, surrealism, intersectionality and personal stories about the designers.

Representing Israel, Italy, Korea, Hong Kong, Romania, Sweden and Italy, the designers bring diverse perspectives and individual narratives. Together, their collections are a culmination of fashion practice and innovation that truly is at the heart of Istituto Marangoni London. MAGMA represents a moment of emergence, marking the transition from education to the global fashion world.

“Fashion has always been shaped by those who dare to reimagine it,” said Fabio Rubino, school director.

Rubino said the fashion show is a testament to what becomes possible when rigorous expectation meets creativity. The event reflects the school’s commitment to shaping and nurturing the next generation fashion designers.

“What you will see on the runway is the eruption, new voices, new perspectives, and a wave of innovation that has been quietly but powerfully taking shape,” said Adi Maoz-Cohen, the director of education.

The concepts of the collections ranged from a moment that altered history forever like the “First Wave of Immigration,” personal stories like “The Boy Who Flew to the Moon,” to the depiction of American Psycho and contrasting identities.

MAGMA pushes the designers into a new age of innovation as they embark on their professional careers which allows them to break boundaries.

“Our students arrive, with a spark, and we dedicate ourselves to giving that spark everything it needs to become something the industry cannot ignore,” said Rubino.
