ASOS and Barbour Join Forces with Artist Jimmy Turrell for Limited Collection
North East artist Jimmy Turrell has collaborated with ASOS and Barbour Re-Loved to design a collection of ten Bedale jackets, Barbour’s signature style of jacket. Turrell mixes the Barbour heritage aesthetic and design elements that make the Bedale jacket so iconic with his hand drawn graphic artwork to create ten visually exciting garments.
Barbour first introduced its Re-Loved initiative in 2019 with the aim to extend the life of their jackets, focusing on the idea of circularity. Customers who no longer want or need their jackets can return them in exchange for a voucher – these jackets will then be given a refresh and a makeover, ready to move onto a new home.

This collaboration with Turrell really pushes the idea of upcycling to the surface and proves that you can take a pre-loved jacket, and with a bit of creativity and artistry, transform it into something completely fresh and unique. The exclusivity of this collection is what makes the collaboration so exciting. Each jacket is one-of-a-kind and designed to be a cherished wardrobe staple.
When crafting the jackets, Turrell was keen for each one to really feel like a piece of wearable art, curating his design process to each individual jacket he worked on. “I approached each one as an individual artwork, layering collage, print, drawing and paint while allowing traces of its previous life to remain,” he said. “I love working with things that already have a history.”

ASOS. WORLD customers are being given exclusive access to shop one of the jackets from 12pm on Wednesday 26th August, before anyone else. The next drop will be a further eight jackets in the collection that all UK customers can get their hands on from Thursday 27th August.
The tenth, and final jacket in this limited collection, is only available to win via a raffle in partnership with the charity Centrepoint, hosted on their website. They are the UK’s leading youth homelessness organisation – all proceeds made from the raffle will go towards supporting their commitment to ending youth homelessness by 2037. ASOS and Centrepoint have been partners for over a decade, raising more than £2.5 million in that time.

Vanessa Spence, EVP Brand and Creative at ASOS said, “Jimmy Turrell’s bold visual storytelling [brings] each jacket to life, the collection sits at the intersection of heritage, contemporary design and culture.”
