Maison Margiela’s New Luxury Residencies in Dubai Unites Fashion, Architecture and Lifestyle

The interception between architecture and design have always been central to Maison Margiela’s creative identity. Continuing on from their iconic legacy in the fashion world, the Maison has launched their own luxury residencies, centred around their defining design features of deconstruction, trompe-l’œil, and transformation.

The luxury living quarters have been developed in partnership with Alta Real Estate Development to create 25 bespoke units situated in Dubai’s exclusive Palm Jumeirah. Guided by an innovative approach, the vision of the house was to merge material exploration with architectural mastery to create a new type of luxury architecture.

Inside the residencies, is a bespoke collection of furniture – including sofas, armchairs, tables, chairs, beds and lighting – designed by Italian architect Carlo Colombo and the Maison Margiela architecture team. These exclusive pieces, designed solely for the residences, seamlessly completes the design experience, from the outside, in.

“It has been thrilling to bring together the codes of more than 30 years of history of an iconic Maison, led by the greatest fashion couturiers like Martin Margiela, John Galliano and now Glenn Martens,” comments Renzo Rosso, Chairman of OTB Group. “It has been very inspiring to create this first project, and I hope it marks the beginning of many more to come, aiming to define the unmistakable style of a one-of-a-kind fashion house.”

The Maison’s journey into architectural design has been showcased previously through its  immersive set designs and installations, demonstrating an existing curiosity and exploration of interiors and furniture design, further showcased through the Maison’s contribution to the design of La Maison Champs Élysées hotel interior in Paris in 2011.

Further to the living quarters, the luxury residencies have created an environment of elegance, discretion, and intuitive comfort, offering residents an art gallery, curated library, fitness studios, infinity pool, gym, spa, and Margiela Café.
