The artistic charm of La Fantaisie Hotel, Paris
Positioned midway down a quiet street in Paris’ 9th arrondissement, the 5-star hotel is a quiet escape from the bustling market street of Rue Cadet.
As you step through the doors, you’re warmly welcomed into the hotel’s café, adorned floor to ceiling with beautiful upholstery by acclaimed interior architect Martin Brudnizki. His botanical designs cover the seats, ceilings and even the room’s columns with gorgeous colourful detail. Filled with hotel guests sipping their morning espressos and checking in on emails, this relaxed space creates a warm entrance to the hotel. From the art house coffee table books on the shelves, to the thoughtfully hung artwork on the walls, the tasteful décor inside is an elegant contrast to the subtle exterior. This relaxed space invited us to sit for hours at a time throughout our time there, getting ahead on work over the course of our stay.
The botanical upholstery wraps around the walls, leading to the upper floors as you make your way up the lift and to the rooms, where I was greeted by a generous array of sweet treats and drinks. The details in the room were what made my experience at La Fantaisie extra special: the ever-useful travel adaptor packed in the bedside table, the mini oat milk cartons in the fridge giving me a guilty sense of home as well as the CBD gummies and eye mask left on the bed as part of the thoughtful turndown service.
We were fortunate to enjoy the rooftop terrace as well as a wonderful dinner in the restaurant during our time at La Fantaisie. Le Bar Sur Le Toit brings you high above the rooftops of the surrounding Faubourg Montmartre landscape, a classic, parisian view of rooftops as far as the eye can see. A glass of crisp white wine and some light nibbles later and we were down at the restaurant for supper.
The transformation of La Fantaisie Restaurant from day to night is seamless. From the delightful breakfast spread offered in the mornings, to the gentle buzz brought around by the evening service, the chilled but lively atmosphere in the dining room is the perfect way to spend an evening.
Earning the hotel its fifth star, is the luxurious, underground La Fantaisie Spa. The expansive space is made up of three dreamy treatment rooms, baths for floating and cold plunging, a fitness area as well as traditional and infrared saunas, making it the ideal space to relax after a long day.
From the incredibly friendly and personal hospitality to the stunning design of the hotel itself, La Fantaisie took very good care of us on our trip to Paris, and we couldn’t recommend it more.
