A Contemporary Rebirth: Marriott’s Hotel Princesa Plaza, Madrid

Sitting in Argüelles at the edge of the Gran Vía, the Madrid Marriott Hotel Princesa Plaza stands as a quiet nod to the city’s brutalist soul. The €51 million renovation by Estudio Caramba has given the space a contemporary identity while preserving its characteristic hexagonal pillars, conceived by architect Luis González Cruz in the 1970s. A short walk from Plaza de España and the vibrant shopping district of Malasaña, the property now boasts 414 suites and panoramic views across the Spanish capital.

Estudio Caramba has styled the space in calming beige, neutral and blue tones, offering guests a tranquil sanctuary from the city buzz. From 24-hour room service and a modern fitness centre to dining that transitions seamlessly from the breakfast buffet to contemporary Spanish restaurant La Chata and the La Mimosa Terrace cocktail bar, every corner of the property is designed for both comfort and sophistication. Its versatile design allows Princesa Plaza to easily go from a corporate meeting hub to a relaxing weekend getaway.

Guest convenience and indulgence are ensured throughout the property, with pet- friendly policies, smart TVs, high-speed Wi-Fi, and floor-to-ceiling windows. An elevated touch for Marriott Bonvoy Elite members is also on offer at the MClub, a private lounge area with personalised service and dedicated work and meeting spaces.

The hotel’s prime location lets guests roll out of bed and step straight into the lively El Corte Inglés market or take a short stroll to iconic Spanish landmarks such as the Royal Palace and Temple of Debod. A perfect blend of historical character and urban charm, it provides an ideal base to explore the energy and heritage of Madrid at your own pace.

Managed by the Selenta Group, Marriott’s second property in Spain presents a sophisticated haven amid the bustling streets of Malasaña, catering to the modern traveller’s every need with style.
