Denim, Redefined – in Gap’s newest collaboration
“Denim has always been central to Gap’s place in culture,” and their newest collaboration with Harlem’s Fashion Row (HFR) undoubtedly reimagines Gap’s most iconic material. Founded by Brandice Daniel in 2007, HFR is an organisation that creates bridges between brands and designers of colour, with the aim of promoting inclusivity in an industry that has often been inaccessible to them.
Their latest 20-piece collection offers statement silhouettes and archive-inspired essentials that showcase the work of five Black designers:– Daveed Baptiste, LaTouché, IGDALYAH, Atelier Ndigo and Nicole Benefield Portfolio.

Serving as a canvas for creativity, each designer’s four-piece capsule showcases their unique use of denim to express individuality, innovation and inspiration. From Caribbean shores to architectural detailing, timeless silhouettes to tailored construction, this collection highlights personal style shaped by diverse voices.
Continuing on the six year relationship between Gap and Harlem’s Fashion Row, Daniel speaks of “what’s possible when brands invest meaningfully in designers”. Deeply rooted in American style and culture, denim is at the forefront of Gap’s heritage. The opportunity to reinterpret a timeless classic, only elevates design, fit and detail into something that feels modern and culturally resonant.

Shot by Ghanaian-American director and photographer Joshua Kissi, the campaign features the designers’ individual takes on using denim to craft contemporary and elevated pieces. Demonstrating their key inspirations, through intricate embroidery, custom-washes and refined tailoring. This new collection offers a fresh take on bomber jackets, corset tops and baggy jeans through balloon shaping, statement peplums and wide shoulders.
